Cherry Cruck Frame Pavillion

After two intense months of laying out and cutting this frame we raised it by hand with the help of the Mullen family of Rockbridge County, Virginia. A lovely day in May in Maryland.

Raising the first of the awkward to handle cruck blades. There is an extension to the boom, that just reached far enough.

First rafter ready.

Raising the paulownia cruck.

Setting the last rafters.

The rough frame. Oiled and rained on.

Roofed and with glass in the gable. Deck being trimmed.

A bit out of order and a year and a half late. This is the happy core crew with Vicco taking the picture.

Truly the most beautiful structure I’ve been so intimatiely involvied with creating.
