In the summer of 2015 Dave Furcht and I returned to the railroad maintenace buildings in Proctor, Minnesota to cut a frame for the North Shore. The douglas fir for this frame came from Washington state, and was incredible to get to work with.

The lighting inside the shop was marginal, and unfortunately the camera as well, therefore the occasional grainy shot.

The frame is non-traditional in shape but uses traditional joinery wherever possible. The frame design is by Peter Henrikson of PH Timber Framing, LLC. It is based on an architectural design by SALA architects.

Dave and I cut the frame and raised it, as well as installed the Structural insulated panels in the roof.  Following the raising of the main structure and the roof, the walls were built in a more or less conventional manner. During this time we cut four exterior structures and returned to install them.
