A counter for the Grace

The cooler that is currently creating the coffee counter is on its last legs and needs to be replaced before the summer.

And as different functions were added over the years, the old counter grew organically.

A new cooler needs a new counter, which is an opportunity to reorganize just a little bit. But keeping all the elements, of course. Maybe adding a thing or two…

First things first: the backbone of the counter.

A laminated wooden top.

Then the cabinets that will support the big coffee machine and ice box and all.

By now the cabinets are all together…

… and test fitted.

A few more coats of varnish where it matters.

Then the cabinets are ready for final assembly at the Grace.

The new countertop is just narrow enough to fit through the railing.

Things go together fast in the morning and the new cooler is already in , but not leveled out yet.

The ice box is heavy and awkward even when empty. But with a little bit of ingenuity it’s in place.

At the end of the first shift it already looks to be well at home.
